Monsters Hunted

Tab: AdventureChallengeReward: 100XPDifficulty: Hard

Quick answer: Kill one of every hostile monster

Tree path: Adventure › Monster Hunter › Monsters Hunted (advancements are independent: they can be completed in any order; the tree only guides progression)

Tree parent: Monster Hunter

Advancements are exclusive to Java Edition. The Bedrock Edition equivalent is achievements, which have different objectives.

How to get Monsters Hunted

  1. Kill one of each of the 41 hostile monsters on the advancement's list, from common Zombies and Creepers to the Ender Dragon, the Wither, the Elder Guardian, the Warden and newer mobs like the Breeze, the Bogged, the Creaking (kill it by destroying its creaking heart) and the Parched.
  2. Work through it systematically: Overworld night mobs first (Zombie, Skeleton, Creeper, Spider, Enderman, Witch, Slime, Phantom, Husk, Stray, Drowned, Silverfish, Cave Spider, Endermite, Zombie Villager...).
  3. Then the Nether set: Blaze, Ghast, Magma Cube, Wither Skeleton, Hoglin, Zoglin, Piglin, Piglin Brute and Zombified Piglin.
  4. Finish with the structure and boss mobs: Guardian and Elder Guardian (ocean monument), Shulker (End city), Evoker, Vindicator, Vex, Ravager and Pillager (mansion and raids), Breeze (trial chambers), Warden (deep dark), Ender Dragon and Wither.

Tips

Your advancement screen tracks which ones are still missing, so check it after each expedition. The Warden is the scariest entry: bring wool to sneak on, or kill it with a bow from a pillar outside its reach. Note that killing a Creaking only counts if you destroy its creaking heart, not by hitting the mob itself.
