How to Make Chiseled Quartz in Minecraft
Guide Java Bedrock
What you need
- 2 regular quartz slabs per chiseled quartz block
- Or 1 regular quartz block with a stonecutter
- Crafting table if making slabs from blocks
- Pickaxe to recover placed blocks
Step by step
- Get regular quartz slabs. Three regular quartz blocks in a horizontal row on a crafting table make six slabs.
- Place one quartz slab directly above another in your inventory crafting grid or on a crafting table.
- Take one chiseled quartz block. Use regular quartz slabs rather than smooth quartz slabs.
- For a direct route, put one regular quartz block in a stonecutter and select chiseled quartz. This makes one block without crafting slabs first.
- Use the patterned white block for decorative walls, borders or column details. No furnace is needed.
- Mine placed chiseled quartz with any pickaxe to collect it. Breaking it by hand drops nothing.
Java vs Bedrock
The two-slab crafting recipe and direct stonecutter conversion work in Java and Bedrock. The input slabs must be regular quartz slabs, not the separate smooth quartz slabs.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a crafting table for the final recipe?
No. Two slabs stacked vertically fit in the inventory crafting grid. A table is needed if you craft the slabs from three quartz blocks.

No. This recipe uses regular quartz slabs.
Which route is simpler for one block?
Put one regular quartz block in a stonecutter and choose chiseled quartz. You do not need to make slabs first.
