How to get A Throwaway Joke

Get a trident. Only drowned that spawn holding one can drop it: 6.25% of natural drowned spawns carry one, and they drop it 8.5% of the time in Java or 25% in Bedrock when killed by a player.
Use Looting III on your sword: the drop chance rises to 11.5% in Java and 28% in Bedrock.
Hold right-click to wind up the trident and release to throw it at any mob.
The advancement unlocks when the thrown trident hits. A melee jab with the trident does not count: it has to be a thrown hit.

Tips

Drowned converted from zombies never spawn with tridents, in either edition, so a converter farm never produces them. Hunt naturally-spawned drowned in rivers and oceans at night instead.
