How to Make Chiseled Red Sandstone in Minecraft

Guide Java Bedrock

What you need

• 2 regular red sandstone slabs per chiseled red sandstone
• Or 1 regular red sandstone block with a stonecutter
• Crafting table if making slabs from blocks
• Pickaxe to recover placed blocks

Step by step

1. Get regular red sandstone slabs. Put three regular red sandstone blocks in a horizontal row on a crafting table to make six slabs.
2. Place one red sandstone slab directly above another in your inventory crafting grid or on a crafting table.
3. Take one chiseled red sandstone block. Use regular red sandstone slabs, not smooth red sandstone or cut red sandstone slabs.
4. For a direct route, put one regular red sandstone block in a stonecutter and select chiseled red sandstone. This gives one block without making slabs first.
5. Use its wither pattern for desert walls, borders or decorative details. No furnace is needed.
6. Collect placed chiseled red sandstone with any pickaxe. If you break it by hand, it drops nothing.

Java vs Bedrock

The two-slab crafting recipe and direct stonecutter conversion work in Java and Bedrock. Chiseled, cut and smooth red sandstone are separate variants with different recipes.
